Epoxy Flooring Frequently Asked Questions
How long does epoxy flooring last?
With proper surface preparation and maintenance, residential epoxy floors last 15-25 years. Commercial floors with heavy traffic may need recoating after 10-15 years. Our 5-year warranty covers any installation defects.
How long does installation take?
A typical residential garage floor takes 2-3 days: Day 1 for surface preparation, Day 2 for base coat application, Day 3 for topcoat and inspection. Larger commercial projects may take 1-2 weeks.
Can epoxy be applied over existing paint?
Existing paint must be removed through mechanical grinding. This is critical for adhesion. We include surface preparation in all our installations.
Is epoxy flooring slippery?
Standard epoxy can be slippery when wet. We offer anti-slip additives that provide traction without compromising the finish. This is especially important for garage and commercial floors.
What temperature is required for installation?
Epoxy requires a minimum temperature of 10°C (50°F) for proper curing. In Vancouver’s cooler months, we use fast-cure formulations that work in temperatures as low as 5°C.
How much does epoxy flooring cost?
Residential garage floors start at $3.50 per square foot. Commercial projects vary based on scope and surface conditions. We provide free on-site estimates with detailed pricing.
